Fretz construction places first in the nation in
safety excellence

Fretz Construction Company is number one in the nation in Safety Excellence as the First Place recipient of the 2011 Willis Construction Safety Excellence Award in the Building Category, 100,000 – 250,000 man-hours. The award was presented at the Associated General Contractors’ national convention, held in Las Vegas, NV earlier this week.

Fretz Construction’s safety program, managed by Brandon Boyd, emphasizes the importance of complete involvement by every member of the company; from entry-level laborer to the president.

“Safety is personal to our employees because they all are directly involved in the development and enforcement of our safety program and know that they have the full support of upper management to correct any potentially hazardous work conditions,” said Boyd.

Safety has been a priority for Fretz Construction long before OSHA was created. Edmond A. Fretz, the company’s founder, received national recognition in 1951 for his commitment to safety. This same commitment is echoed by the company’s current president and founder’s grandson, Bob Fretz, Jr.

“We have made a concerted effort to empower all Fretz employees to enforce our strict standards of safety on our projects, and the results speak for themselves.  This is an award that is to be shared by all Fretz employees,” said Bob Fretz, Jr.

Over the past few years Fretz Construction has completed over 417,000 man-hours without a lost time injury. This is a direct result of the outstanding work of the entire Fretz team, who have truly become the extended Fretz Family.
