Fretz Construction Company was recognized with two Awards for Project Excellence (APEX) from the Houston Chapter of the Associated General Contractors, for Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, making a clean sweep of the liturgical categories.
The renovation of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, located in Bellville, Texas and designed by Stern and Bucek Architects, included an extension of the front of the building to seamlessly match the original, as well as an addition on the south side in which gathering spaces, sacristies and restrooms were constructed. The interior finishes were exactly replicated and enhanced to provide a new baptistery and reconciliation rooms, with the original faceted windows restored and relocated to the new extension.
Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, designed by HBL Architects, included a new 27,000 square foot 1,600 seat Sanctuary, Chapel, a large nursery area, parlor, full-sized baptismal for both infant and adult baptisms, choir/music area and a large gathering space. The sanctuary focal point is a hand painted mosaic tile dome, which spans 42 feet in diameter and is comprised of 50 shades of Venetian glass by artist Greg Haas.
For eighty-seven years Fretz Construction has built its reputation on providing impeccable quality, an unwavering commitment to our clients and a strong family-oriented atmosphere. This philosophy is demonstrated in the award-winning work by John Wheeler, a second generation employee and Project Superintendent at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church and Michael Devora, a third generation employee and Project Superintendent at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
